During the negotiations, Ukraine and the United States agreed on a military document that defines future approaches to supporting the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The document regulates mechanisms for assistance, recovery, and monitoring the implementation of commitments.

This is reported by RBC-Ukraine .

Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Andriy Hnatov announced the agreement on the document during a briefing on the results of work with European partners in Kyiv.

According to him, the document consists of 4 sections and 4 annexes. It defines how support for Ukraine will be provided, how the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be maintained, restored, and modernized, how compliance with the agreements will be monitored, and what reactions are foreseen in the event of a violation of the agreement by either side.

A separate section of the document concerns the activities of the “Coalition of the Willing”, which unites international partners to support Ukraine and the possible involvement of peacekeeping formats.

At a briefing, Oleksandr Bevz, a representative of the President’s Office, outlined the vision of security guarantees for Ukraine. He noted that this is a multilateral agreement involving Ukraine, the United States, European partners, and other countries ready to join in providing guarantees, including Canada.

“This framework links how all the guarantors operate among themselves. Everyone understands that the Armed Forces of Ukraine are the first level of protection. That there are multinational forces led by Europe that will be deployed in Ukraine, involved in one way or another for security in the air, at sea, on land. There is an American “back-stop” that provides support to these multinational forces. What the military is doing is to ensure that the details of the military component are agreed upon: both with regard to guarantees from the Americans, with whom a bilateral agreement has already been signed, and with guarantees from the Europeans,” said Oleksandr Bevz.

By the way, the US announced that on New Year’s Eve , negotiations to end the Russian-Ukrainian war had reached a critical phase .

Earlier, the Kremlin stated that Ukraine must withdraw its troops from Donbas if it wants to stop the fighting . As is known,a meeting between US President Donald Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky ended at the private residence of Mar-a-Lago in Florida. After this meeting, a final press conference was held.

Earlier in the day, US President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Russian President Vladimir Putin before meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. Talks between the US and Ukrainian leaders are set to begin in about an hour.

It is worth adding that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, on the eve of his meeting with US President Donald Trump, stated that important decisions could be made by the end of the year . According to him, this depends on the position of Ukraine’s international partners and pressure on Russia.
