Ukraine approves additional payments to military personnel: what you need to know

The Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Ivan Vyhivskyi signed orders approving the procedures for paying additional rewards to servicemen of the National Guard, the State Border Service, and special police officers. The new mechanism provides for motivational payments depending on the complexity, danger, and results of combat missions.

The signed orders approve the procedure for payments within the framework of the pilot project of incentive bonuses. After state registration, the documents will be officially published and will come into force. Payments will be accrued for the period starting from June 1, 2026.

According to the approved procedure, military personnel, border guards, and police officers performing combat missions at the front will be able to receive up to 460,000 hryvnias in incentive payments per month. The amount of the reward will depend on the complexity and danger of the tasks performed, as well as on the specific results of combat work.

The document provides for the following additional payments:

• up to 100 thousand hryvnias per month in proportion to time for direct participation in combat operations;
• 170 thousand hryvnias per month in proportion to time for performing tasks directly on the front line;
• 70 thousand hryvnias per month in proportion to time for completing tasks on other front lines within the company stronghold;
• 50 thousand hryvnias per month in proportion to the time spent serving at control points;
• from 15 to 30 thousand hryvnias per month for military instructors;
• up to 10 thousand hryvnias per month for military service for other categories of military personnel;
• 40 thousand hryvnias per day for capturing enemy positions;
• 20 thousand hryvnias per day for returning lost positions;
• 100 thousand hryvnias for each captured occupier;
• 15 thousand hryvnias for destroying an enemy in a gunfight or hand-to-hand combat.

“The full-scale war has radically changed the work of our units. Today, border guards, guardsmen, and police officers, side by side with other components of the Defense Forces, participate in the most complex operations and assaults, holding the most difficult sections of the front. Thank you to everyone who is defending the state. Decent recognition of your courage and professionalism is our duty,” emphasized Minister of Internal Affairs Ivan Vyhivskyi.

Earlier, the Verkhovna Rada reported that not all servicemen will receive the announced monthly allowance of 10,000 hryvnias . In particular, the payment is not provided for officers serving in rear positions.
