Ukraine asked the Netherlands to accelerate aid of 2 billion euros

Ukraine is asking the Netherlands to provide 2 billion euros in military aid earlier than planned. Kyiv wants to spend the money on air defense missiles and the production of interceptor drones.

This was announced by the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Netherlands, Andriy Kostin, De Volkskrant reports.

According to him, Ukraine needs additional air defense systems now. Russia has intensified its attacks with ballistic and hypersonic missiles, and not only energy facilities, but also civilian facilities are under attack.

Therefore, Ukraine has proposed to the Netherlands to allocate 2 billion euros now from military assistance, which was planned to be provided in the following periods.

They primarily want to spend the money on missiles for air defense systems and the production of interceptors that destroy Russian drones.

The Netherlands has already allocated part of its future aid to Ukraine ahead of schedule. In the summer, the country allocated 437 million euros in this way.

In total, the Netherlands allocates 3 billion euros each year for military support to Ukraine.

It has previously been reported that the UK is developing new long-range missiles for Ukraine that will not contain American components and could enter service within a year. According to sources, the new systems will be cheaper than the Storm Shadow missiles and will have a range of over 500 kilometers.

As a reminder, Italy is preparing a new aid package for Ukraine and will continue to maintain sanctions pressure on Russia . Rome also remains committed to supporting Ukraine’s security, defense, and reconstruction.
