Ukraine will this week provide the Trump administration and Congress with a list of Russian companies, vessels and individuals that Kyiv proposes to impose U.S. sanctions on under a new law. Among the priority targets are manufacturers of components for a Russian satellite system that Moscow is developing as a counterpart to Starlink.

This was announced by the charge d’affaires of Ukraine in Washington, Denys Senik, ABC News reports, citing the Associated Press.

According to the diplomat, Ukraine considers several Russian companies that produce components for the satellite network to be priorities for sanctions. The main company involved in its deployment is already under US sanctions, but the suppliers are not yet on the US sanctions lists.

Senik said that the completion of the Russian satellite network could increase the threat to Ukraine. According to him, Moscow will be able to receive data in real time and use it to launch strikes on Ukrainian targets, which is especially dangerous on the eve of winter.

Ukraine is also interested in expanding access to Starlink on Russian territory. According to Senik, this would allow for information on Russian military targets.

Separately, Kyiv is calling on Washington to tighten restrictions against vessels that, according to the Ukrainian side, are part of the Russian “shadow fleet.” They are used to circumvent restrictions on the export of Russian oil.

The new US law expands sanctions powers against Russia, including restrictions on the energy sector and the “shadow fleet.” The document also gives the US president the ability to impose additional tariffs on major buyers of Russian oil and gas under certain conditions.

The Trump administration has until October 18 to decide which Russian entities will be sanctioned under the new law that the US president signed on September 18.

In addition, Ukraine expects a public reaction from the US administration and American businesses to Russian attacks on the enterprises of American companies operating in Ukraine.

As a reminder, US President Donald Trump’s special representative, John Cole, proposed a new approach to relations with Russia – to seek the release of political prisoners in exchange for a gradual easing of sanctions and the restoration of economic ties .
