Ukraine at the 2026 Winter Olympics: who will represent the country?

The Winter Olympic Games will be held in Italy from February 6 to 22, 2026. Yes, the Olympics will start in Milan on Friday.
The National Olympic Committee has announced the composition of the Ukrainian national team for the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo. The team consists of 46 athletes who will compete in 11 sports.
It should be noted that this is the largest number of licenses for Ukraine since the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.
The largest number of Ukrainians will compete in biathlon and luge – ten participants in each event. Nine athletes will go to the Olympics in freestyle, where Ukrainians won medals at the last two Games. These disciplines are considered the main ones for the national team in the fight for awards.
The 2026 Olympics will also bring new achievements. Kateryna Kotsar will be the first Ukrainian to compete in big-air and slopestyle. However, in figure skating, Ukraine will be represented only by Kyrylo Marsak. As is known, this is the smallest representation in this sport in the history of independent Ukraine.

The flag bearers at the opening ceremony will be skeleton athlete Vladyslav Geraskevych, for whom this is already the third Olympics, and debutant Igor, short track speed skater Yelizaveta Sidorko.
Throughout the history of the Winter Olympics, Ukraine has won nine medals, three of which are gold. At the last Games in Beijing 2022, the only award for the team was brought by Oleksandr Abramenko, who has already completed his sports career.
As a reminder, the grand opening ceremony will be broadcast live on the Suspilne Sport TV channel and on Suspilne’s regional channels. The live broadcast will begin at 9:00 PM Kyiv time.
