Ukraine, Britain and five other countries launch CORPUS defense coalition: details

Ukraine, together with partner countries, created CORPUS (Coalition for Resilient Procurement and Unified Support), a multinational coalition in the field of defense support.

This is reported by Interfax-Ukraine.

The initiator of the creation of the coalition was the Defense Procurement Agency of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

CORPUS includes procurement agencies from Ukraine, Finland, Italy, Norway, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. The relevant memorandum was signed by representatives of the parties on April 30 in Kyiv.

The main goal of the coalition is to strengthen the defense capabilities of Ukraine and partners, improve coordination between procurement agencies, make supply systems more resilient, and develop cooperation in the face of new security challenges.

The Ministry of Defense notes that the coalition will remain open to other partner countries if they join the memorandum and receive unanimous support from the Board of Directors.

Artem Romanyukov, Director of the Directorate of the Ministry of Defense, stated that CORPUS will help to better plan procurement, build reliable supply chains, find weaknesses in the system, and strengthen cooperation between countries.

Interaction between participants will take place at the operational level – through the exchange of solutions for working with the market, digital tools, anti-corruption practices, and supply organization.

Arsen Zhumadilov, Director of the Defense Procurement Agency, emphasized that for Ukraine this is an opportunity to scale the experience of providing troops gained during a full-scale war, and for partners – access to solutions that already work in real combat conditions.

The partners pay special attention to the IT solutions of the Ministry of Defense, in particular the DOT-Chain digital ecosystem, which includes a weapons marketplace, a food management system, and a supply control system.

During the first year, the CORPUS coalition will be led by the Director of the Defense Procurement Agency of Ukraine. Thereafter, the chairmanship will be transferred on a rotational basis.
