Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga reacted to the United States strike on Venezuela and the detention of dictator Nicolas Maduro.

In particular, on the X network, he wrote that Ukraine did not recognize Maduro’s legitimacy after the elections and violence against protesters.

“The Maduro regime has violated all these principles on all sides. Democratic countries and human rights organizations around the world have highlighted the widespread crimes, violence, torture, oppression, abuse of all fundamental freedoms, vote theft, and the destruction of democracy and the rule of law by his regime,” Sibiga noted.

He noted that the people of Venezuela should have a chance at a normal life, security, prosperity, and human dignity.

“We will continue to support their right to such normality, respect and freedom. We advocate for further development in accordance with the principles of international law, prioritizing democracy, human rights and the interests of Venezuelans. We thank everyone in the world who helps protect life,” the Ukrainian minister added.

Previously, US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said that Nicolas Maduro would face justice “for his crimes.”

Earlier, US President Donald Trump said that Nicolas Maduro and his wife had been captured and taken out of Venezuela.

Recall that US President Donald Trump ordered strikes on targets inside Venezuela on Saturday, January 3.

The Venezuelan government subsequently declared a state of emergency in the country due to the American attack .
