Ukraine completes certification of FP-7 ballistic missile: when will it be used

The Ukrainian FP-7 ballistic missile is undergoing the final stage of certification by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. Fire Point plans to use it for the first time in combat conditions in early autumn 2026.

This was reported by Reuters, citing Fire Point CEO Iryna Terek.

According to her, the FP-7 received a strike modification designed to destroy ground targets. The missile has already undergone about 15 test launches and is currently undergoing certification at the Ministry of Defense.

Terek noted that the procedure should be completed within the next two to four weeks.

Fire Point expects to use the FP-7 for the first time in combat conditions in early fall of this year.

In addition, in late autumn, the company plans to conduct the first combat launch of a larger ballistic missile, the FP-9. According to the head of Fire Point, its range will allow it to hit targets located in Moscow.

Terek also said that the design of the FP-7 is partly based on Soviet interceptor missile designs for the S-300 and S-400 complexes. At the same time, the new Ukrainian missile has only about 20% of common components with these weapons.

Earlier, “Pryamiy” reported that the Fire Point company presented the FP-7 and FP-9 ballistic missiles at the Eurosatory 2026 international arms exhibition in Paris. The Ukrainian guided aerial bomb “Equalizer” was also demonstrated for the first time at the event.

In addition, Fire Point has agreed with German radar manufacturer HENSOLDT to cooperate on the creation of a new Freya missile defense system. At the same time, the Ukrainian anti-ballistic missile for the future complex is already ready.
