Ukraine controls part of Luhansk region: Defense Forces refute fake news about capture

The Ukrainian Defense Forces denied Russian information about the complete capture of the Luhansk region.

This was stated on the air of “We are Ukraine” by the spokesman for the Joint Forces Group, Viktor Tregubov.

The day before, on April 1, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced the occupation of the entire territory of Luhansk Oblast.

As of April 2, the corresponding post on the official Telegram channel of the Russian Defense Ministry has disappeared, and propaganda resources are citing the ministry.

As Tregubov noted, Ukrainian forces have been holding positions in Luhansk region for several years. He added that the “small piece” controlled by Ukraine is not shrinking, as there are well-fortified positions there.

“Judging by everything, it was April 1 for the Russian Defense Ministry too. The situation is as follows: the Russians control most of Luhansk Oblast, it’s no secret. But, of course, the Ukrainians have been holding a small piece for years,” the spokesman said.

According to him, there are currently no significant changes or movements in the Luhansk region.

“Why the Russians decided to announce something right now, I don’t know. This is again some classic drug addiction from the Russian Ministry of Defense,” Tregubov said.

He compared the statements about the occupation of the Luhansk region with the statements about the numerous captures of Kupyansk or the number of destroyed Ukrainian equipment.

Earlier, the Russian Defense Ministry announced the capture of another settlement , Kivsharivka in the Kharkiv region. However, according to information from the 43rd OMB, this turned out to be another fake.

As a reminder, the Joint Forces Group denied information about the alleged advance of Russian troops in the Kharkiv region. The Ukrainian military continues to hold their positions.
