Ukraine will receive Patriot in the coming weeks. The transfer is currently being coordinated at the level of the defense ministries.
This was stated by German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at a press conference in London.
“At this hour, the defense ministries are discussing the details of how we can ensure the appropriate supply of Patriot to Ukraine in a short time. This could take weeks. The negotiations are very specific, the American side is ready to do this, but we do not have a result yet,” Merz said.
He suggested that in the near future the Ministries of Defense of the countries will conclude agreements that will make what Donald Trump promised technically possible.
“The US is ready to provide Ukraine with weapons that will be financed by European partners. Germany wants to make a significant contribution to this. We need to discuss the details with our partners as soon as possible,” Merz said.
He also clarified that Ukraine “in the coming weeks and months” will receive further support “on a large scale”, including in the matter of long-range weapons, which Germany will produce together with Ukrainian partners.
Earlier it became known that the US Department of Defense delayed the delivery of Patriot air defense systems to Switzerland in order to send them to Ukraine .
Recall, US President Donald Trump announced that the first batches of Patriot anti-aircraft systems have already been sent to partner countries, which will later transfer them to Ukraine.
