Ukraine has called an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in response to another escalation by Russia – a missile attack on Kyiv on July 31, which killed dozens of people.
This was announced by Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiga.
The meeting will take place on August 1 under the agenda item “Supporting peace and security in Ukraine.”
“Putin rejects peace efforts and wants to continue his war. And the world has the necessary power to stop him – with unified pressure and a principled position in favor of a complete, immediate and unconditional ceasefire,” Sibiga said.
The Foreign Minister emphasized that the UN platform should be used to condemn Russia’s actions as clearly as possible and demonstrate the unity of the international community in defense of peace.
As a reminder, as a result of the combined attack by the Russian Federation on Kyiv on the night of July 31, 26 people were killed, including three children. More than 150 people were injured. The greatest destruction was recorded in the Svyatoshynskyi district of the capital.
