Ukraine did not submit a candidate for the election of an ICC judge on time: the next opportunity is in 2029

Ukraine did not submit an application for the election of judges to the International Criminal Court, missing the specified deadline.

This was reported by lawyer Ilya Novikov.

According to him, the deadline had expired the day before, on March 29. He suggested that the competition commission was supposed to meet on March 30. At the same time, a draft extending the competition until April 12 was already ready for signature.

“But on April 12, we will only be able to celebrate Cosmonautics Day together, and, optionally, send someone from Ukraine to the ISS, which is the International Space Station. The ISS, which is the International Criminal Court, closed the application process yesterday and no one will be waiting for us there,” Novikov emphasized.

The lawyer added that the next time Ukraine will be able to nominate its candidate only in 2029.
