In Ukraine, frosts are expected to ease after January 22.
Natalia Ptukha, a representative of the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center, reported this during a briefing.
According to her, until January 22, the weather in Ukraine will be affected by an anticyclone from the northeast, which, combined with a cold Arctic air mass, will lead to persistent frosty weather with high atmospheric pressure.
By this time, nighttime temperatures in the northern regions and Vinnytsia will remain at -12 to -17 degrees Celsius, while in Chernihiv and Sumy regions, temperatures will drop to -20 degrees Celsius in some places. Daytime temperatures in the northern regions are forecast to be -6 to -11 degrees Celsius. In other regions, nighttime temperatures will be -8 to -13 degrees Celsius, with daytime temperatures of -3 to -8 degrees Celsius. It will be slightly warmer in Transcarpathia and the far south, where daytime temperatures will in places approach freezing or reach +1 to +2 degrees Celsius.
Starting Thursday, atmospheric fronts may affect the right-bank regions. Light snow is possible in the western regions and the southeast, accompanied by a gradual increase in temperatures.
Starting on January 23, overnight lows in the northern regions will rise to -5 to -11 degrees Celsius, with daytime temperatures reaching -1 to -7 degrees Celsius. In the southern regions and Transcarpathia, daytime temperatures will rise above zero, reaching +3 degrees Celsius.
Forecasters predict a cyclone from the southwest on January 25-27, especially the 26th. It will bring more cloud cover and precipitation to most regions. Temperatures during this period will be higher, but rain, sleet, and ice are possible, particularly in the central and southeastern regions.
