Ukraine expects to bring a fair peace closer by autumn – Zelensky

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Ukraine expects to bring about a just and dignified peace in the summer and fall of 2026.
He said this during a joint press conference with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in Kyiv.
According to Zelenskyy, Ukraine continues to work within the framework of the PURL initiative, and partners have already made contributions in May and plan to continue their support in June.
The President also reported that he and NATO leadership discussed additional mechanisms that could provide Ukraine with long-term financial security guarantees.
“We will work at both the G7 summit and the NATO summit in Ankara,” the head of state noted.
Zelenskyy emphasized that increased support for Ukraine and security guarantees should serve as an additional incentive for Russia to move toward a diplomatic settlement.
“And we very much hope that over the summer and fall we will be able to truly bring peace closer – an honest and dignified peace,” the president said.
Earlier, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov stated that the war against Ukraine could allegedly end “by the end of the day” if Kyiv agrees to Moscow’s demands and withdraw its troops from Russian-occupied territories.
