Ukraine first shot down Gerani-5 jets with robotic turrets: how the complexes work

Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ignat said that Ukrainian air defense has already shot down jet drones, in particular “Geran-5”, using robotic turrets. According to him, the complexes use machine vision and artificial intelligence, which makes it possible to work even on jet UAVs.

He spoke about this on the national telethon.

“There are already shooting down even jet UAVs, even Geran-5, from the same turrets,” Yuriy Ignat said on the air of the news marathon.

According to him, robotic turrets are installed, in particular, on bridges. When hitting targets, machine vision is used, and artificial intelligence helps eliminate human error and improve technical calculations.

Ignat noted that the operating radius of robotic turrets is currently small, since their main means of destruction is a machine gun.

By the way, in the fall, Russia began using an updated version of the Geran-4 strike drones . The drones received an improved navigation system and a new warhead, designed, in particular, to destroy bridges and overhead power line supports.
