Several Ukrainian companies have launched a full production cycle of engines for long-range drones, from casting the hulls to final assembly. Currently, current production capacities do not fully cover the needs of the front, which is holding back the increase in serial production.

This is reported by Militarny .

It is noted that at least two domestic companies are die-casting the hulls, performing galvanic treatment, and assembling the finished engines. This cycle allows for faster adaptation of power plants to different tasks and classes of aircraft.

At the same time, production is limited by dependence on imported components. Critical electronic components — transistors, resistors, microcircuits, and others — remain import-oriented. Export restrictions from China have complicated direct supplies and force the use of routes through third countries, which lengthens logistics and increases costs.

Reducing the distance between production and the battlefield speeds up the repair and replacement of components. Engineering corrections based on combat use are implemented more quickly. Feedback from operators allows for faster technical revisions and increases the reliability of platforms in conditions of active electronic countermeasures.

Dependence on foreign electronics remains a key risk. Companies are simultaneously diversifying suppliers, testing component substitutes, and building larger safety stocks. Industry participants expect that additional investments in shop equipment and contractual agreements with related manufacturers will allow for increased serial production and better cover peak military needs.

The evolution of Ukrainian UAVs from point assembly to localized production lines has already taken place, and engines remain one of the most critical elements of this transition. Further steps include scaling up production, stabilizing electronics logistics, and standardizing service to reduce technological risks and increase resilience to external supply constraints.

By the way, the Ukrainian company “General Chereshnya” presented a drone that can counter Russian strike drones – “anti-shahed”.

Recall that the Fire Point company, which created the Flamingo missile, has already reached a production rate of 50 units of this weapon per month . By the end of the year, the company plans to achieve a new record – to produce about seven missiles daily.
