Ukraine has changed the procedure for paying child benefits: what parents need to know

In Ukraine, a new mechanism for paying certain types of state aid to families with children has come into effect since July. In particular, funds will be transferred to special accounts via “Diya.Kartka”, and compensation for the “Baby Package” has also been increased.

This was reported by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.

The new rules are provided for by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine No. 617. They concern the use of special accounts, payment terms, compensation for the “Baby Package” and the conditions for receiving certain types of state assistance.

The main change was the introduction of special accounts with control over the targeted use of funds through the electronic payment instrument “Diya.Kartka”. It is to such accounts that the state will transfer payments.

The new order applies to:

• assistance for caring for a child up to 1 year old;
• payments under the “e-Nursery” program;
• compensation for the “Baby Package”;
• “Student Package” assistance.

At the same time, the conditions for using the funds have not changed. As before, state aid can only be used for its intended purpose.

The government has also increased the amount of monetary compensation for the “Baby Package”. It will be 3 subsistence minimums for children under 6 years old. Currently, it is 8,451 hryvnia. In addition, if the child was born not in a maternity hospital, you can apply for compensation within 3 months from the date of birth of the child.

It was previously reported that child benefits in Ukraine are planned to be paid through a single account “Diya.Kartki” . The government also announced the abolition of restrictions on the terms of use of these funds, which will change the current procedure for accruals.
