Ukraine has assessed the consequences of recent long-range strikes by the Security and Defense Forces on Russia’s oil refining infrastructure. According to the Ministry of Defense, more than 51% of Russia’s oil refining capacity has been put out of action.
This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
According to Defense Minister Yevheniy Khmara, the consequences of the strikes were assessed by intelligence, analysts from the General Staff, and the Ministry of Defense.
“More than half of the enemy’s capabilities have been disabled. This is the result of carefully thought-out, planned and systematic actions aimed at bleeding the Russian military machine and destroying its military-economic potential,” Khmara noted.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the Moscow, Yaroslavl, KINEF, Ust-Luga, Perm, Ilya, Saratov, and Syzran oil refineries were recently hit.
“51% of the affected oil refining capacities are a significant blow to the enemy’s economy, its ability to carry out aggression and provide for the grouping of its troops. Our deep strikes continue to transfer the war to the territory of Russia,” the minister added.
The Ministry of Defense noted that one of the priorities is the development of long-range strike drones, which make it possible to hit targets deep inside Russia.
According to Khmara, this year Ukraine has tripled the production and procurement of such drones. He added that they plan to scale up deep strike capabilities in the future.
Recall that units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine struck the Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka oil refinery in the Volgograd region of the Russian Federation on the night of October 2, 2026. Explosions and a fire were recorded on the territory of the facility.
By the way, the war against Ukraine is putting increasing pressure on the Russian economy : Moscow is spending huge amounts of money on defense, and sanctions and prolonged hostilities create additional risks. Danish intelligence believes that the Russian economy is approaching a serious crisis.
