Ukraine has stood firm, is fighting and will never again be forced to compromise – Zelensky’s congratulations
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky addressed the nation on the occasion of Independence Day. He spoke in the center of Kyiv, on Maidan Nezalezhnosti, emphasizing that this place is a symbol of freedom and strength of Ukrainians in the most difficult moments.
The head of state thanked the military, volunteers, doctors and all citizens for their courage and contribution to the fight. According to him, it was on February 24 that Ukraine matured, took its destiny into its own hands, stopped the world’s second army and destroyed the myth of its “invincibility”.
“Every day we prove that the Ukrainian nation exists and will exist. And in a hundred years, our descendants will also celebrate Independence Day here, in the heart of Kyiv,” Zelensky emphasized.
He stressed that Ukraine has become stronger, more confident and more capable of acting on its own accord. In particular, in response to Russia’s energy attacks, Ukrainian forces are striking its oil refining infrastructure.
The President said that Ukraine will never again be forced to accept humiliating compromises that the enemy calls goodwill gestures. The future of the country will be determined only by the Ukrainian people and the world already recognizes Ukraine as an equal partner.
“Ukraine is not a victim, but a fighter. It does not ask, but offers alliance, partnership, the best army in Europe and advanced defense technologies. Today, Europe and the United States admit: Ukraine has not yet won, but it will certainly not lose,” Zelensky said.
He stressed that peace would be achieved along with strong security guarantees, so that no one in the world would ever think of attacking Ukraine again.
“We are building a state that will live in security and peace. And so that our children and grandchildren will celebrate Independence Day on this square with confidence in the future. We should live and fight for this,” the president concluded.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump congratulated Ukrainians on Independence Day, noting support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and future.
