Ukraine honors the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred: February 20 marks the anniversary of the tragic events
Every year on February 20, Ukraine honors the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred – Maidan activists who died during the Revolution of Dignity of 2013–2014. On this day, thematic memorial and art events will be held in Kyiv.

February 20, 2014, was the bloodiest day of the Maidan – 48 people were killed in central Kyiv. It was on this day that the most massive shootings of protesters took place.
Together with the other 54 dead and mortally wounded protestors during the winter of 2013–2014, as well as five activists who died in the spring of 2014, they were named Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred. Their feat became a symbol of the resilience, courage, and bravery of Ukrainians.
Memorials, street exhibitions, art events, and online activities will take place in Kyiv today. They are designed to preserve the memory of the dead and remind us of the struggle for independence.
Due to martial law and security, some events are being organized in small groups or online. Medical and security personnel will be on duty at the venues.
The memory of the Heroes of the Heavenly Hundred reminds us of the price of freedom and the importance of continuing the struggle for a democratic and independent Ukraine.
