Ukraine in 2025 received the largest security assistance during the war
2025 was a record year for international security support to Ukraine. The total amount of assistance exceeded $45 billion – the largest figure since the start of the full-scale war and almost 30% more than last year.
This was reported by the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Denys Shmyhal.
According to him, in 2025, the key areas of support will be the supply of weapons and ammunition, the development of air and missile defense systems, as well as investments in joint production and procurement for the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex. The partners paid special attention to military training, equipment repair, technical support, and logistics.
More than $6 billion was directed directly to the development of the Ukrainian defense industry, in particular within the framework of the so-called “Danish model”. Ukraine received another almost $3 billion from profits from frozen Russian assets in the European Union and the United Kingdom. These funds were used to purchase weapons and strengthen the defense industry.
Shmyhal emphasized that international support for Ukraine is becoming long-term and systemic. According to him, this creates the basis for deterring Russian aggression, strengthening the state’s defense capabilities, and achieving a just peace in Europe.
As previously reported, on December 22, the European Union transferred 2.3 billion euros to Ukraine as part of the sixth regular tranche under the Ukraine Facility program.
Let us remind you that two more Patriot air defense systems have been deployed to protect Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.
