On Wednesday, April 8, Ukraine imposed power supply restrictions due to the consequences of Russian attacks on energy infrastructure and increased consumption.

Ukrenergo reported this.

Consequences of the shelling

As a result of drone and artillery attacks, consumers in the Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions remain without power.

Due to the difficult situation in the power system, restrictions are being applied throughout the country:

  • from 07:00 to 22:00 – power limitation schedules for industry;
  • from 11:00 to 13:00 – hourly outages for all categories of consumers.

Consumption growth

As of 9:30 a.m., electricity consumption was 16% higher than the previous day. The main factors were a sharp cold snap and cloudy weather, which reduced the efficiency of solar power plants.

The peak consumption on April 7 also increased by 1.9% compared to April 6.

Consequences of bad weather

Due to strong winds and fallen trees on power lines, more than 90 settlements in the Ternopil, Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi, and Kyiv regions were left without power.

Power engineers are working to restore power supply.
