Ukraine has managed to turn the tide of the war by ramping up drone production and deploying them consistently. Now, Kyiv is not only holding back the enemy at the front but also extending the war into Russian territory by launching long-range strikes.

The Financial Times reports this.

Fire Point, a military technology company, makes a significant contribution to drone production in Ukraine, producing approximately 300 medium- and long-range drones daily. Each costs approximately €50,000.

The company’s co-founder, Denis Stillerman, notes that Ukrainian drones regularly carry out strikes behind Russian lines.

One of its key functions is “hunting” aircraft. For this purpose, the Ukrainian military uses the FP-1 as a “mother” drone, which delivers two quadcopters loaded with explosives to the area. After waiting near the airfield, they attack Russian aircraft.

Just a few months ago, Russia had a significant advantage at the front, but in the rear, it regularly attacked the Ukrainian energy sector, which put the country on the brink of disaster.

Now the situation has changed – the advantage is increasingly shifting to Ukraine’s side.

“This month, the dynamics have shifted in our favor. We’re holding more ground and causing more damage,” said President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The head of the Ukrainian mission to NATO, Olena Hetmanchuk, emphasized that Ukraine is becoming less and less dependent on the West, as it is currently in one of its strongest positions since the war.

Drone production and long-range strikes help Ukraine compensate for the shortage of personnel on the front lines and contain the enemy’s advance.

According to the publication, discontent among Russian citizens is growing as Ukrainian drones reach as far as the Urals.

Digital Transformation Minister Mikhail Fedorov reported that the Russian army suffered significant losses in March and April—approximately 35,000 soldiers killed and seriously wounded.

At the same time, the Ukrainian army is also facing a serious shortage of personnel, and its losses, according to Western analysts, could amount to between 500,000 and 600,000 people.

Experts note that Russia’s advantage in heavy equipment, which previously gave it a significant advantage at the front, is no longer decisive.

Ukraine is shifting from long-range strikes against Russia’s oil and gas sector, which finances the Russian military machine, to medium-range operations aimed at disrupting logistics and supply chains.

New mid-range drones, the FP-2 from Fire Point, the Cloud from General Cherry, and the Hornet from Swift Beat, an American company founded by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt, are now capable of reaching targets that were previously unreachable.

In particular, the Russian Telegram channel Rybar acknowledges that Ukraine’s attacks on Crimea are becoming increasingly dangerous and are affecting the supply of goods and fuel.

Earlier, “Pryamoy” reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy demonstrated the results of long-range strikes on Russia over the course of a week and added that most operations are still ongoing.

Also, on April 29 and on the night of April 30, the Ukrainian Defense Forces carried out strikes on a number of important Russian army facilities.

One of the main targets was the Orsknefteorgsintez oil refinery in the city of Orsk in the Orenburg region of the Russian Federation.
