Ukraine is changing the rules of international bus transportation

Ukraine is updating the rules for international bus transportation. The changes will concern the deadlines for registering routes, the work of carriers, and the digitalization of all procedures.

This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister for Recovery – Minister of Community and Territorial Development Oleksiy Kuleba.

According to him, the changes are part of the reform of international transportation and the launch of the carrier’s online office.

Currently, more than 400 international routes have been opened or extended through the electronic service.

Among the main changes:

  • Applications for opening, changing, extending or closing a route will be considered within 30 calendar days.
  • After the route is agreed with another country, a decision will be made within 10 days.
  • The carrier will receive the permit within 5 working days.
  • Up to 20 days will be given to correct documents
  • Coordination of routes with neighboring countries will take up to 6 months, with others – up to 12 months
  • carriers must operate at least 30% of flights per year, otherwise the route will not be extended
  • the launch of a new route must take place within a maximum of 90 days after receiving permission

All procedures will be carried out through the carrier’s online account.

According to Kuleba, the reform should make the rules more understandable for business, bring them closer to EU standards, and increase the number of international routes for passengers.
