Ukraine is developing an analogue of the Mavic drone called “Slavik”: what is known
Ukrainian company Vyriy is developing a copter-type reconnaissance drone called “Slavik”, which is an analogue of the DJI Mavic drone. The device is already flying and may soon undergo combat testing.

Vyriy Director Oleksiy Babenko said that the drone is already capable of flying, shooting video, and has camera stabilization. The device also received a remote control similar to the DJI Matrice 4 and software similar to that used in the DJI Mavic.
“It already hangs on its own, it will work… in principle, all the functions are there, and it already looks good,” said director Vyriy.
According to him, the development is almost complete. They plan to begin combat testing next week or the week after, followed by a public presentation and launch into mass production.
The company also plans to make the interface and control panel as similar as possible to the Chinese drone, to make it easier for the military to switch to the new system. In addition, the drone will receive a beacon-based orientation system, which will allow the device not to lose contact during the operation of electronic warfare equipment and return to the operator.
“It will be easier to fly on it than on a DJI,” Babenko added.
The next version of the drone is planned to implement the function of capturing and tracking a target. The daytime version will initially cost $4,000–4,500, while the thermal version will cost about $500–1,000 more.
One of the main advantages, the developers say, is the flight duration. According to Babenko, it can reach 2 hours.
“So far it’s about 1.5 hours, but we haven’t optimized anything yet, so I think it’ll be 2 hours. And 2 hours of flight is about four times the flight time of the Mavic,” he explained.
Babenko noted that the limited flight time of Mavic drones forces operators to work close to infantry positions, making them a priority target for the enemy. The new drone should allow the operator to work at a greater distance from the line of combat contact.
“You can conduct Bakhmut reconnaissance while sitting in Slavik’s (Slovyansk) or Krama’s (Kramatorsk) coffee shop. That’s the difference in distance,” said director Vyriy.
The drone also has mounting brackets for additional equipment, including drop systems and a repeater. During field tests, the communication range was 50 km, and at the front – up to 30 km.
It was previously reported that a large-scale transformation of the unmanned sector is underway in Ukraine: the state is preparing its own alternative to the Chinese Mavic drones , launching a digital Mission control system, and forming special units to destroy enemy UAV operators.
Recall that Ukraine has begun testing several prototypes of domestic microwave weapons , which could become a new tool in the fight against drones.
By the way, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine has already reached the level of producing about a thousand interceptor drones per day to counter Russian attacks . At the same time, the number of drones produced exceeds the existing capabilities of mobile fire groups that can use them.
