Ukraine is ready to help African countries fight mercenaries from Russia by offering military training and combat experience in regions of Russian influence.

This was reported by Reuters.

Since 2022, Ukraine has opened eight new embassies on the continent, including in:

  • Mauritania;
  • Congo;
  • Ivory Coast.

The total number of Ukrainian diplomatic missions in Africa has increased to 18.

“Russia’s military presence in the Sahel undermines stability. Ukraine is ready to continue training officers and representatives of the Mauritanian armed forces, share technologies and achievements that Ukraine has achieved on the battlefield,” said Ukrainian Ambassador to Africa Maksym Subkh.

Ukraine also provides humanitarian assistance to refugees from Mali who are fleeing the country due to hostilities involving Russian PMCs.

It is worth noting that within the framework of the “Grain from Ukraine” initiative, African countries received about 300,000 tons of food, in particular Congo, Ethiopia, Sudan, Kenya, and Nigeria.

The Ambassador of Ukraine to the Congo reported that he is discussing long-term agreements in the field of agriculture and food security.

It is noted that in response to Russian disinformation, Ukraine has developed its own African strategy aimed at refuting Kremlin narratives, as well as developing trade, investment, and diplomatic ties.

“By maintaining its role as one of the guarantors of global food security, Ukraine can prevent Russia from using food supplies as political leverage,” said Roman Sereda, Chargé d’Affaires ai in Mauritania.

It was previously known that the Main Intelligence Directorate had conducted operations in Africa several times to prevent the supply of weapons to Russia .

By the way, the Mali Foreign Ministry called Ukraine a terrorist state because of its “support” for the rebels who defeated the “Wagnerists” last year.
