Cloudy weather with precipitation and fluctuations in air temperature is expected in Ukraine from January 5 to 9. At the end of the week, increasing frosts and snow are forecast in most regions.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Hydrometeorological Center.

On Monday, January 5, weather conditions in Ukraine will be formed under the influence of an area of high atmospheric pressure and a southern cyclone. No precipitation is forecast in most western and northern regions. At the same time, mainly rain is expected in the southern part, and snow and sleet are possible in the central regions, in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, and in Chernivtsi region.

The air temperature during the day will range from -1 to -6 degrees, in the central regions – from -4 to +1 degrees, in the southern part – from +3 to +7 degrees, in the south of Crimea – up to +10 degrees. No precipitation is expected in Kyiv, ice is possible on the roads, at night the temperature will drop to -8 degrees, during the day it will be about -4 degrees.

“Most regions of the west and north will fall into a powerful area of high atmospheric pressure, but the southern cyclone will cause precipitation in other regions of Ukraine,” said forecaster Natalka Didenko.

On Tuesday, January 6, cloudy weather is forecast. At night, the air temperature will be from -6 to -8 degrees, during the day – from 0 to -2 degrees. Snow is expected at night, during the day – sleet and rain. The wind speed at night will be 3–8 meters per second, during the day – 5–10 meters per second.

On Wednesday, January 7, cloudy weather will remain in Ukraine. The temperature at night and during the day will fluctuate between 0 and -2 degrees. Light sleet and rain are forecast in some places. Winds are expected at night at 3–8 meters per second, during the day at 5–10 meters per second.

On Thursday, January 8, forecasters predict a drop in temperature. At night, it will be from -4 to -6 degrees, during the day – from -4 to -2 degrees. Snow and cloudy weather are expected throughout the day. The wind will increase to 7–12 meters per second during the day.

On Friday, January 9, further cooling is forecast. At night, the temperature will drop to -8…-10 degrees, during the day — to -10…-8 degrees. Cloudy weather is expected, with light snow in places. The wind speed during the day will be 7–12 meters per second.

“The week is expected to be synoptically heterogeneous, and a strong but short-term cooling is likely at the end,” added Natalka Didenko.

Forecasters warn that due to precipitation and a drop in temperature, ice may form on the roads.
