In August and September 2026, some regions of Ukraine experienced shortages in the availability of certain medications. However, the Ministry of Health did not record any systemic shortages nationwide.
The Ministry of Health reported this, hromadske reports.
According to the agency, temporary issues arose with medications containing sodium levothyroxine, specifically Euthyrox and L-Thyroxine. After additional shipments arrived, availability stabilized.
The Ministry of Health explained that the supply of certain medications to pharmacies is being impacted by damage to warehouse infrastructure, disruptions in logistics, uneven supplies of some imported drugs, and increased demand.
Despite damage to some warehouses, distributors continue to supply medications to the Ukrainian market. To do so, they are changing logistics routes and reconfiguring supply chains.
The Ministry of Health, in conjunction with the State Service for the Prevention of Cruelty to Drugs and Evil, is monitoring drug stockpiles and ensuring rapid replenishment. Diversification of drug storage locations and the use of alternative delivery routes are also being developed.
The agency emphasized that due to ongoing Russian shelling and the risk of damage to logistics and warehouse infrastructure, drug availability may vary depending on the region and the specific drug.
