Ukraine is launching the “Thousandth Century” program: billions of hryvnias will be allocated annually for cultural development.

Ukraine is launching its first large-scale state program to support national cultural products, “Tysiachevesnaya.” The initiative provides billions of hryvnias in annual funding for Ukrainian culture and will encompass a wide range of creative fields.

Vladimir Zelensky announced this.

The program will support seven areas of cultural production, including film, television, animation, music, performance and visual arts, and social media content creation.

Currently, 1,151 applications have been submitted for participation in the project. The selection process is ongoing, and the results are scheduled to be announced on June 12.

According to the president, approximately 17% of all submitted applications are debut projects. He noted that 2026 will be the program’s launch year, and that state support for Ukrainian culture will only increase in the future.

“Tysyachevestnaya” aims to stimulate the creation of contemporary Ukrainian cultural products and support authors and creative teams even in the face of full-scale war.

According to Tatyana Berezhnaya , the program could be expanded as early as 2027, adding new categories such as book publishing and online game development. An increase in funding from 4 billion to 6-8 billion hryvnias per year is also being considered.

The initiative, titled “1000 Hours of Ukrainian Content,” was launched on April 3. Its main goal is to develop a competitive Ukrainian cultural product capable of attracting both domestic and international audiences.
