The United States and a Middle Eastern country are in talks with Ukraine to purchase interceptor drones to repel drone attacks from Iran.

This is stated in the Financial Times article.

Amid the escalating situation in the Middle East, Gulf countries are using Patriot systems to counter Iranian Shahed drones.

However, the missiles are much more expensive than Ukrainian interceptor drones, and their supplies are rapidly dwindling.

Negotiations are currently underway between Ukraine, the United States, and at least one other country regarding the sale. According to a Ukrainian official, it is a “sensitive topic.”

“However, it is obvious that there is a surge of interest in Ukrainian drone interceptors capable of intercepting the Shahed at very low costs,” the source noted.

At the same time, it is emphasized that the sale of any Ukrainian systems, even those produced abroad, must be coordinated with Kyiv.

It is worth noting that the cost of missiles for American Patriot systems significantly exceeds the price of the Iranian Shakhed drone. In particular, the drone costs $30,000, and the ammunition for air defense systems costs more than $13 million.

The president previously commented on concerns about the consequences of the war in the Middle East and the possible impact on air defense supplies to Ukraine.

As is known, Zelenskyy admitted that Ukraine and Middle Eastern countries could exchange weapons – Kyiv is offering interceptor drones, expecting to receive missiles in return.

As a reminder, the president stated that Ukraine can help Middle Eastern countries protect people’s lives amid Iranian drone attacks and stabilize the situation in the region.
