Ukraine is preparing a new defense plan: what is known about it

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that he has instructed Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal to prepare a new defense plan for Ukraine, taking into account the course of hostilities. According to the head of state, the updated priorities should be reflected in basic defense documents.

The President of Ukraine held a meeting with the Minister of Defense to discuss changes needed to update defense planning. The Head of State emphasized that the situation at the front has demonstrated the need to adjust approaches to defense.

“It is time to change the basic documents on Ukraine’s defense, in particular the defense plan of our state,” the President said.

He emphasized that it was the course of hostilities that determined which areas should become new priorities for military and government planning.

“We agreed that Denys would prepare detailed proposals for changes and submit them to the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for approval,” Zelensky noted.

The President also added that the government and the Ministry of Defense are providing full funding for the purchase of drones and other necessary equipment for combat brigades. According to him, yesterday another monthly tranche of the subvention for combat brigades in the amount of 4.3 billion hryvnias was financed.

“Also, an additional 8 billion hryvnias were allocated to finance the Drone Line,” the President said.

Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy approved the updated composition of the Ukrainian delegation, which will participate in negotiations with the United States, other international partners, and representatives of the Russian Federation on achieving a just and sustainable peace.

It is worth adding that the updated version of the American “peace plan” for Ukraine, reduced from 28 to 19 points, is being kept secret to avoid new leaks in the media.
