Ukraine is developing its own guided aerial bombs that can hit targets at distances of up to 200 kilometers. Seven Ukrainian manufacturers are already working on creating such munitions, and some of the projects involve the use of turbojet engines to increase the flight range.

This was announced by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Brigadier General Andriy Lebedenko, Oboronka reports.

According to him, the task of creating Ukrainian guided aerial bombs was set back in 2024. Since then, a team of developers has been formed in the country, who have already mastered the production of planning modules and are working on solutions that will allow the use of aerial bombs outside the range of Russian air defense.

“There are currently seven manufacturers in Ukraine. A whole school of specialists has grown up who are already able to make planning modules, in particular with turbojet engines, which allows increasing the range of use by 100–200 kilometers,” Lebedenko noted.

He stressed that Ukrainian forces already have enough platforms to use such ammunition, and their capabilities are constantly being improved. The main challenge, according to the general, remains scaling up production.

“Last year, the Russians used more than 60 thousand aerial bombs. That is why we must develop our own manufacturers to increase the number of such weapons. But at the same time, we are also betting on accuracy, because it is very difficult to compete with the Russian Federation only in the mass of launches,” the Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine emphasized.

As a reminder, on the morning of July 20, co-owner of the Ukrainian company Fire Point Denis Shtilerman published a video of the launch of a Ukrainian rocket . At the same time, he did not disclose its name or any technical characteristics.

As reported, the United Kingdom has begun developing its first ballistic missile in over half a century, which is planned to be transferred to Ukraine in 2027. The project should not only strengthen Ukraine’s defense capabilities, but also reduce Europe’s dependence on American weapons.
