Kremlin provocations like “Ukraine is preparing an attack on Poland” became possible due to the growth of anti-Ukrainian sentiment among Poles. Instead of exposing Russian IPSOs, the country’s top leadership, on the contrary, promotes the spread of relevant narratives, reminiscent of the events on the eve of World War II.

This opinion was expressed on the air of “Pryamoy” by Volodymyr Viatrovych, a people’s deputy from “European Solidarity”.

“Unfortunately, such Russian provocations are possible precisely due to the general growth of real anti-Ukrainian sentiments in Poland. If from the very beginning the Polish authorities had made some sufficiently resolute statements condemning various anti-Ukrainian steps, including those of the Poles, then it would certainly have been easier to detect and suppress these provocations. But, unfortunately, this is not happening,” Viatrovych noted.

According to him, instead of countering Russian provocations, the current government in Poland is, on the contrary, contributing to the spread of anti-Ukrainian sentiments in society, which in turn is reminiscent of the events on the eve of World War II.

“We see how Polish politicians, including those of the highest rank, such as the president, instead of stopping anti-Ukrainian sentiments, which are behind Russian provocations, are trying to pick up on these sentiments and initiate all sorts of very strange legislative projects to ban a non-existent phenomenon, such as “Banderism”, to limit aid to Ukrainians, and other things that give Russian provocateurs the opportunity to simply run wild against the backdrop of this real Ukrainophobia, which is now very seriously growing in Polish society,” the People’s Deputy explains.

“Unfortunately, there is a lack of conscious, sober voices of Polish politicians who would be ready to restrain this. The only possible exception is the publications in Gazeta Wyborcza by Myroslav Cech, who talks about how Karol Navrocki’s current policy actually helps President Vladimir Putin, and he draws very painful but clear analogies that Poland is now somewhere in 1938 in terms of the level of very strange anti-Ukrainian initiatives on the part of individual Polish politicians. And, unfortunately, he forgets that after 1938 came the tragic 1939, especially for Poles,” emphasized Volodymyr Viatrovych, a member of parliament from European Solidarity.

As a reminder, Poland has recorded the spread of fake information about an alleged preparation of an attack by Ukraine , for which Russia will be held responsible. According to the Polish Ministry of Internal Affairs, everything points to a planned Russian information operation aimed at cutting off Ukraine from support from Poland and NATO countries.
