Deputy Head of the Presidential Office Pavlo Palisa said that for all military personnel in Ukraine, they plan to introduce clear terms of service and a deferral after the end of the contract. The innovations provide for the possibility of concluding contracts also for already mobilized citizens.

He said this in an interview with Radio Liberty .

According to Pavlo Palisa, the relevant contracts will be signed, in particular, by those citizens of Ukraine who are already serving under mobilization. The purpose of such changes is a gradual transition from a mobilized army to a contract army.

“Contracts that will be able to be signed, including by already mobilized citizens of Ukraine, in order to obtain clear terms of service and a smooth transition from the mobilized army to the contract army,” said the Deputy Head of the President’s Office.

Commenting on the issue of possible postponements, Pavlo Palisa noted that the previous Minister of Defense had developed a relevant draft law, which had already been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada regarding new contracts.

He also reported that the current Minister of Defense, Mykhailo Fedorov, has taken a break to finalize the document, after which an updated draft is expected to be submitted.

“The request for service terms is understandable and we will still try to implement it through contracts,” said Pavlo Palisa.

Earlier, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine explained the changes to the Regulations on Military Service , which were introduced by the Presidential Decree.

The day before, it became known that Ukraine plans to maintain the number of troops at the level of 800 thousand personnel in the post-war period or after the ceasefire , but the army will switch from a mobilization form to a contract one.
