President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed to prepare an extension of the sanctions, the term of which is expiring.
He wrote about this in Telegram.
In particular, the president held a meeting with the Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov and the Commissioner for Sanctions Policy Vladyslav Vlasyuk, during which they reported on new sanctions steps and the synchronization of existing restrictions with partners.
Zelenskyy stressed that five sanctions were introduced in September. They affected individuals who assist the Russian military-industrial complex, the shadow navy, and the energy sector, propagandists, pro-Russian figures from Moldova, and people who serve the occupiers in the temporarily occupied Crimea. In total, 166 individuals and 127 legal entities were subject to restrictions.
In addition, Ukraine synchronized British sanctions in Ukrainian jurisdiction.
Also this month, there were sanctions decisions by the US, UK, Canada, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand.
“Each of these packages takes into account our proposals and already implemented sanctions. And it is important that we have such coordination. We expect the adoption of the 19th EU sanctions package as soon as possible. We are also working with the US on further sanctions pressure,” the message says.
As a reminder, the European Union is preparing another — already strengthened — package of sanctions against Russia , which will cover key areas: energy, financial services, and international trade.
