Ukraine is preparing to merge its electricity market with the European one. Ukrenergo, the Market Operator, and the Ukrainian Energy Exchange have agreed to coordinate work to launch joint electricity trading with EU countries.
This was reported by the press service of Ukrenergo.
The heads of the three companies signed memorandums of cooperation that define the main directions of preparation for the unification of the Ukrainian and European electricity markets.
This concerns the possibility of joint electricity trade between Ukraine and the European Union countries on the day-ahead and intraday markets.
To do this, the companies will work on creating the necessary contractual and organizational framework. They will also need to establish technical cooperation and integrate information systems.
Ukrenergo noted that all signed memoranda provide for the same conditions and do not grant any of the parties exclusive rights.
The company is also ready to sign such documents with other participants who plan to obtain the status of nominated electricity market operator in Ukraine.
