Ukraine is preparing to produce its own air defense systems: what is known

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced his intention to expand the production of air defense systems in Ukraine. This involves creating a full range of air defense systems that should ensure the long-term protection of the state.
He wrote about this in Telegram .
Zelenskyy stressed that Ukraine is actively working with international partners to strengthen air defense, including at the political and military levels.
“We are looking for anti-ballistics. Most importantly, we are moving towards conditions where we will be able to produce air defense in Ukraine and together with partners – all the necessary air defense formats: systems, missiles, etc.,” the president said.
According to him, the development of domestic production in the field of air defense is considered a strategic task for the state.
“Among the security guarantees that we are considering for Ukraine are weapons packages, the ability to produce the necessary weapons, and, therefore, licenses for this and an industrial base. These are key things,” he noted.
Zelensky emphasized that the creation of its own air defense systems should ensure Ukraine’s defense for decades to come.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported that Ukraine has a significant shortage of missiles for Patriot air defense systems . He described the shortage as “it couldn’t be worse.”
