Ukraine is reinstating power outages.

This week, hourly power outage schedules have returned to force in Ukraine. The main reason for the restrictions is a power shortage in the power grid caused by the aftermath of Russian shelling.
Ukrenergo reports this.
However, spring outages have their own specific characteristics, distinguishing them from winter ones. Power engineers have identified the main factors affecting the current state of the system.
Repairs and generation features
Scheduled Nuclear Power Plant Maintenance: In the spring, nuclear power plant units begin to be shut down for scheduled maintenance and nuclear fuel replacement. Consequently, domestic electricity generation in the country decreases.
Reduced CHP Operation: After the heating season ends, most combined heat and power plants reduce their electricity production because they cannot operate efficiently without a cycle of heating water for heating.
Less Imports: Electricity purchases from abroad are currently lower than in winter, due to price conditions in the Ukrainian and EU markets.
Weather influence and consumption
Temperature fluctuations: Even though the heating is off, due to the cold weather, people are using heaters en masse, which creates a significant additional load on the network.
Solar factor: Solar power plants operate more efficiently in the spring. This creates excess power during the day, but the shortage remains acute in the morning, evening, and during cloudy weather, necessitating shutdowns during peak hours.
Continuing enemy attacks
Russia continues to shell energy infrastructure, damaging both electricity generation facilities and distribution networks.
Ukrenergo urges consumers to follow recommendations for efficient electricity use. Limiting the use of high-power appliances, especially during peak hours, will help keep power outages as short as possible.
