This is reported by “European Truth” with reference to a statement by Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov.
According to the minister, during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to France, a “very good conversation” took place with President Emmanuel Macron regarding the possibility of transferring a license to produce SCALP missiles to Ukraine.
Fedorov noted that negotiations are currently underway with the French government and the manufacturing company, during which the parties are agreeing on all the necessary details.
“There is indeed progress, but it is too early to say,” the minister said.
He explained that the process covers intellectual property issues, production launch, and other legal and bureaucratic procedures.
Fedorov also reported that Ukraine continues negotiations with the United States to obtain licenses for weapons production.
According to him, after the decisions of the G7 summit, the dialogue with American partners continues at the level of the National Security and Defense Council.
The minister emphasized that the very fact of starting such negotiations is unprecedented, but no details have been disclosed yet.
Separately, Fedorov noted that it was precisely regarding the SCALP missiles that the parties had already moved on to a more substantive discussion. “These are the first steps. We continue to maintain these communications to achieve a result. It’s really all in the details,” he concluded.
As previously reported, at the next meeting in the Ramstein format, Ukraine received new packages of military assistance, and the partners agreed to strengthen cooperation in air defense and weapons production.
Recall that Ukraine may receive a license to produce missiles for Patriot anti-aircraft missile systems.
