Ukraine may receive JDAM-ER: US agrees to sell ammunition
The US State Department has approved the possible sale of Joint Direct Attack Munitions – Extended Range (JDAM-ER) and related equipment to Ukraine for a total of $373.6 million.
This was reported by the press service of the US State Department, reports “European Truth”.
The department noted that the government of Ukraine has requested the United States to purchase 1,200 sets of tail parts for the joint direct strike munitions JDAM type KMU-572 and another 332 sets of tail parts for the JDAM type KMU-556.
The order also included ammunition maintenance equipment, spare and repair parts, consumables, technical support, weapons software, as well as engineering, logistics, and service services for the US government and contractors.
The State Department emphasized that this sale will strengthen Ukraine’s capabilities to counter current and future threats.
“The proposed sale will contribute to strengthening Ukraine’s ability to perform self-defense tasks and ensure regional security,” the department noted.
JDAM is a set of special equipment for conventional unguided bombs that turns them into high-precision guided munitions.
The Extended Range version allows such bombs to hit targets at a distance of more than 70 kilometers.
The prime contractor for this order will be the American company Boeing from Missouri.
As previously reported, the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine codified and approved for use in the Armed Forces a new ground robotic complex “Bizon-L”.
As a reminder, Ukraine agreed with Belgium and Spain on key areas of defense cooperation on the eve of the meeting in the Ramstein format.
