Ukraine – Northern Ireland: when and where to watch

On Friday, October 2, the Ukrainian national team will play a match of the third round of the Nations League against Northern Ireland. The nominally home match will take place in Trnava, Slovakia, at the Anton Malatynsky Stadium.

This is reported by “Pryamiy”.

After two rounds, Ukraine and Northern Ireland lead the group. The “blue and yellow” started the tournament with a victory over Hungary, but in the next match they played a draw with Georgia. The Northern Irish first beat Georgia, and then parted ways with Hungary without scoring a goal.

For Andrea Maldera’s team, the match will be an opportunity to get three points again after the draw with Georgia. In that match, the coach carried out a large-scale rotation of the squad, releasing only one player from the opening minutes who played in the previous match.

Northern Ireland, in turn, will rely on organized defense, counterattacks and set pieces. It was after a set piece that the British snatched victory over Georgia in the ninth minute of injury time.

In the history of the confrontations, Ukraine has the advantage: in six matches, the “blue and yellow” have won three, drawn twice and lost once. The teams last met at Euro 2016, where Northern Ireland defeated Ukraine 2-0.

Northern Ireland will be without Bradley, McCann, McDonnell, Lyons and Ballard due to injuries. The Ukrainian team will not be helped by Ocheretko, Bondar and Mykolenko.

Approximate compositions:

Ukraine: Riznyk, Matvienko, Mykhavko, Zabarny, Krupsky, Nazaryna, Brazhko, Tsygankov, Yarmolenko, Yaremchuk, Sikan.

Northern Ireland: P. Charles, Devenney, Brown, McConville, Etchesson, Hume, S. Charles, Galbraig, Kelly, Price, Donley.

The match will start on October 2 at 21:45 Kyiv time, and the live broadcast will be available on the MEGOGO Football 1 channel.

It was previously reported that the new UEFA Nations League for the 2026/27 season kicked off on September 24. The first matchday featured eight matches, including the Netherlands hosting Germany and Portugal playing Wales.
