For the first time, a long-range modification of the Neptune cruise missile, known as the Long Neptune, was officially shown. It is capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 1,000 kilometers.
The first footage of the Ukrainian missile was shown on the state portal “Weapons”,
In the recording, the “Long Neptune” is demonstrated along with other samples of Ukrainian weapons, although it is not directly mentioned in the video.
As Defense Express notes , the Long Neptune can be recognized by its distinctive X-shaped wings that fold.
However, the video itself is not of the newest “Long Neptune”, but of a test of a regular “Neptune” from a few years ago.
The new rocket is likely to be over 6 meters long without the booster. This is one and a half meters longer than the first version of Neptune. The hull has also been increased in diameter to 50 cm.
The official characteristics of the missile have not yet been disclosed. It is known that it is designed to destroy ground targets.
Recall that on January 10, a Ukrainian Neptune missile hit a warehouse storing ammunition and reconnaissance drones near the village of Chaltyr in the Rostov region .
By the way, in 2024, the Defense Forces used the Neptune cruise missile six times in a modification to destroy logistics links and warehouses of Russian drones.
