Ukraine peace plan causes chaos in the White House

Марко Рубіо,

The peace plan for Ukraine has caused chaos and controversy within the White House.

This is reported by The Telegraph .

US Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio take opposing positions on ending the war.

Vance represents isolationists and insists on “realism,” effectively suggesting that Ukraine make concessions to Russia. Rubio has long been an opponent of the Kremlin and has called Putin a “gangster” in the past.

Last week, Vance temporarily gained influence in the White House. He called Volodymyr Zelensky and presented a controversial 28-point plan , which many called Moscow’s wish list. After that, an official close to Vance, US Army Secretary Dan Driscoll, arrived in Kyiv and told the Ukrainian side that “the front is collapsing” and Kyiv must agree to the transfer of territories.

According to journalists, Trump wants a deal with Ukraine, but has left the details to his subordinates. He did not support the 28 points in full after a wave of sharp criticism in Kyiv and Europe.

Rubio took advantage of this, joining the negotiations and taking on many hours of consultations with the Ukrainian delegation in Geneva . European leaders welcomed his return with relief, as Rubio had previously blocked Trump’s attempts to hold another summit with Putin.

However, it turned out that another negotiation process was underway in parallel: Trump’s special envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian negotiator Kirill Dmitriev were developing a 28-point document. Dmitriev demanded that Ukraine be banned from joining NATO, withdraw troops from Donbas, and reduce the size of the army – and these points were included in the draft plan.

Rubio only learned about it later and on a closed call called the document a “Russian proposal.” His words were leaked to the press, which was a humiliation for him.

The Telegraph’s sources say that chaos reigns in the White House : different groups of officials are simultaneously working on different versions of the agreement, without understanding who is actually making the decisions. Rubio is now forced to “level the playing field” and bring the agreement to a format that can be supported by the Senate, which is much more tough on Russia.

It was previously reported that Russia will not be able to quickly capture the entire Donetsk region, even despite constant attacks and slow progress on the front.

We will remind you that after negotiations between the Ukrainian and American delegations in Geneva, the US peace plan for Ukraine underwent significant changes.
