The Verkhovna Rada has registered a bill amending the Tax Code of Ukraine. It introduces new provisions for bank profit taxation.
This was reported by the head of the parliamentary finance committee , Daniil Getmantsev .
He noted that the Rada registered the bill “On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine Regarding the Specifics of Taxation of Banks with Corporate Income Tax.”
According to him, the document is necessary because during the war the income of some banks increased significantly.
For example, by the end of 2025, the income of 60 banks reached UAH 579.3 billion, which is 14.2% more than in 2024 and 29.9% more than in 2023.
Getmantsev also added that changes to the tax system that have proven effective were already introduced in 2023-2024.
The new changes are expected to significantly increase budget revenues in 2027 and direct these funds towards defense needs.
Earlier, Pryamiy reported that an International Monetary Fund mission would arrive in Ukraine in the coming weeks to assess the progress of reforms and expand the tax base within the current $8.1 billion loan program.
The European Union also plans to link part of its €8.4 billion in financial aid to Ukraine to tax changes demanded by the IMF.
