Ukraine may gain the capability to strike Russian territory with domestically produced ballistic missiles within the next three to six months. Kyiv plans to launch the first missile before the end of 2026.
Former Defense Minister Mikhail Fedorov stated this in an interview with CBS News.
For long-range strikes against Russian targets, Ukraine primarily uses attack drones and cruise missiles. However, ballistic missiles are significantly faster and more difficult for air defense systems to intercept.
Russia is actively using ballistic weapons to strike Ukrainian cities, which is placing additional strain on Ukrainian air defense systems.
According to Fedorov, Fire Point tested its own ballistic missile in June. This development could form the basis of Ukraine’s new long-range weapon system.
The former Minister of Defense emphasized that Ukraine must constantly stay ahead of Russia in the development of military technologies.
According to him, Kyiv plans to launch the first such missile into Russian territory by the end of 2026.
Earlier, Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced progress in the development of Ukrainian ballistics.
