Ukraine plans to significantly improve financial support for families after the birth of a child. The Ministry of Social Policy has proposed paying young mothers a one-time allowance of 50,000 hryvnias. This bill has already been submitted to the government for consideration.

This was stated by First Deputy Minister of Social Policy Daria Marchak in an interview with Radio Liberty.

She explained that in addition to the large one-time payment, families will receive increased monthly payments during the child’s first year of life. The exact amount is still being discussed, but it will be several times higher than the current 860 hryvnias.

“We want women who stay at home with their children to have their own money and not be completely dependent on their husbands’ income,” Marchak emphasized.

If the Cabinet of Ministers approves the project, the new payments could begin as early as January 1, 2026. Currently, the amount of the birth benefit is just over 41 thousand hryvnias and is divided between a lump sum payment and monthly amounts for several years.

As a reminder, on July 7, at the initiative of President Volodymyr Zelensky, the Government will decide to launch the “Student Package” — a new cash payment.

As reported, Ukraine plans to introduce financial assistance for the birth of the first and each subsequent child in the amount of 50,000 hryvnias.
