Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga commented on the appeal of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to stop the war against Ukraine. According to the Foreign Minister, Kyiv supports such initiatives, but in order to move to diplomacy, it is necessary to increase pressure on Moscow.

This was reported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine.

Sybiga said that Ukraine appreciates the call of Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to end the war and called his appeal “realistic, timely and wise.”

The minister recalled that Ukraine had previously proposed to cease hostilities along the current front line and move to a diplomatic settlement. At the same time, he said, the Kremlin rejected this proposal, and the Russian dictator’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov also rejected Tokayev’s initiative.

“The bottom line is this: Moscow needs to feel more pressure before it agrees to realistic peace proposals,” Andriy Sybiga said.

Recall that Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, during a meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin, called for a freeze on the war against Ukraine and the resumption of the negotiation process . He also proposed a return to the so-called “Istanbul Formula 2.0.”
