Ukraine proposes to introduce a National Mathematics Test: details of the initiative

In Ukraine, it is proposed to introduce an annual National Mathematics Test, similar to the Radio Dictation of National Unity. It is planned to be held on Science Day, which is celebrated on the third Saturday of May.
This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada Committee on Education, Science and Innovation.
What is known about the initiative?
The proposal to organize a nationwide math test was made by the secretary of the specialized committee, Natalia Pipa. She believes that after the National Unity Radio Dictation, it is worth launching a similar event dedicated to mathematical knowledge.
“We wrote a national radio dictation well as a country. I am addressing the committee and the ministry, I am going to address a letter to the Public. I believe that on Science Day we should write a National Mathematics Test,” Pipa said during the meeting.
The initiative was supported by Minister of Education and Science Andriy Butenko. In his opinion, the idea is worth discussing, because although a math test may not be as spectacular as Radiodictation, it is capable of attracting significant attention.
At the same time, Butenko joked that later there may be proposals to hold similar nationwide events in other subjects – in particular, chemistry, physics, and biology.
The initiative is currently under discussion. The decision to hold the National Mathematics Test, its format, and date have not yet been approved.
Let us remind you that the All-Ukrainian Radio Dictation of National Unity is a traditional annual nationwide event dedicated to the Ukrainian language and the unity of Ukrainians. It is usually held on the Day of Ukrainian Writing and Language, but this year the dictation took place on the eve of the holiday.
