Two more Patriot air defense systems have been deployed to protect Ukrainian cities and critical infrastructure.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The department noted that the deployment of new complexes was made possible thanks to recent agreements with the German government. Currently, these systems are already performing combat missions and reducing losses from cruise and ballistic missile strikes on energy and civilian facilities.

In December, Ukrainian Defense Minister Denys Shmyhal announced the signing of new agreements with German partners worth over 1.2 billion euros. In total, Germany pledged to allocate 11.5 billion euros to support Ukraine.

In addition to the transfer of Patriot systems, the agreements provide for a long-term supply of spare parts for these complexes, which will allow for faster repair, modernization and restoration of Ukrainian air defense. Germany will also finance the purchase of Ukrainian drones for 200 million euros and an artillery project to produce 200 self-propelled artillery systems “Bogdan” on the Zetros chassis for a total cost of 750 million euros.

In addition, the parties agreed on the joint production of Ukrainian UAVs “Linza” in cooperation with the companies Frontline Robotics and Quantum Systems, as well as on the uninterrupted supply of modern electronic warfare equipment at the tactical level.

As previously reported, Petro Poroshenko met with representatives of a dozen or so brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on New Year’s Eve. “Under the Christmas tree” the military received a large batch of drones of various modifications, electronic warfare, communication and control equipment, generators, charging stations, and equipment for headquarters work.

Recall that European countries that are ready to join the so-called “coalition of the willing” are considering the possibility of sending up to 15,000 troops to Ukraine during the first six months after the end of hostilities.
