Canada transferred about $1.7 billion to Ukraine, secured by proceeds from frozen Russian assets.

This was announced by Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

He noted that Ukraine received funds under the ERA (Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration) initiative.

Thus, since the beginning of the year, Ukraine has received about $17.6 billion from frozen Russian assets.

At the same time, Shmyhal emphasized that in this way, Ukraine and its partners are forcing the Russian Federation to pay for the crimes and destruction committed.

“I am grateful to Canada and everyone involved in this program. We insist on the full confiscation of the frozen funds of the Russian Federation. They are needed to pay compensation to victims of aggression and to rebuild our state. This will also be an act of justice to prevent aggressive wars in the future,” the Prime Minister concluded.

Recall, Ukraine and the Japan International Cooperation Agency signed an agreement necessary to receive $3 billion under the Extraordinary Revenue Acceleration (ERA) initiative.

As reported, the Finnish government will send ammunition to Ukraine using profits from frozen Russian assets.

By the way, the European Union is developing a plan that will increase aid to Ukraine. Thus, the EU seeks to obtain additional billions of euros from frozen Russian assets , transferring them into “riskier investments.”
